Shoreline Launch Task Force

CampusGroups, which will replace OrgSync this summer, is the platform where campus organizations register, recruit new members and maintain rosters, engage in the event planning process, and submit requests. Beyond those basic functions, there are several tools that might be valuable to your campus department, such as:

  • Numerous communication tools to publicize programs and events campus-wide.

  • A more complete at reliable co-curricular record that reflects student achievements, initiative, and leadership outside of the classroom and separate from the formal transcript.

  • Comprehensive event management functionality with multiple modes of attendance tracking, including card swipe, QR code, or manual records.

  • A simple, calendar-integrated scheduling tool to allow students to book meetings.

How to Get Involved

All departments are welcome to participate. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to serve as Task Force Members or Consultants. Please note that our work together won’t begin in earnest until early July (so we can all finish out the academic year, and OSL can finalize the contract and work with SIS&T to perform basic setup).

  1. Department Survey - If your department would like to utilize CampusGroups features, have one member of your department complete the Prospective Member Department Survey.

  2. Task Force Member Sign-up - If you would like to serve on the Task Force (as a member or consultant), please complete the Task Force Interest Survey. (We encourage departments to identify faculty and student representatives in addition to staff representatives. Each person serving on the Task Force should complete the form.)

  3. Naming Content - Submit your idea – your great suggestion just might earn your department or organization a sponsorship! If your submission is the first time the name has been suggested for the system and it is selected as the official name of CampusGroups at UCSB, you win! A registered campus organization will receive free registration for 2019-20 plus a $200 unrestricted sponsorship. A department will receive a $250 statement credit toward their CampusGroups membership.

  4. Reach out to us with any questions!

Project Background

Before OrgSync, OSL required paper forms for campus org registration (and kept paper files for every campus organization), we only accepted paper room reservation requests, and our “event planning” form didn’t save any data and asked just a few brief questions. Since OSL leveraged OrgSync 8 years ago, we’ve moved to almost entirely digital processes, created a comprehensive event planning process (used for thousands of student-planned events and adopted by numerous other campuses), and begun to maintain digital records of student involvement.

OrgSync was acquired and is being replaced. With OrgSync going offline this summer, we were forced to look for alternatives and – fortunately – we have identified our next platform: CampusGroups.

With OrgSync, we successfully digitized student life. With Campus Groups, we will create an interactive student engagement experience. Our vision involves an engaging hub for co-curricular activities where students go to find involvement opportunities; a comprehensive tool for tracking and evaluating student experiences; and a well-organized administrative hub for student organization business that makes their work straight-forward, educational, and even fun! We need your help to make this a reality.
